This prayer was written during a time that I was facing a lot of insecurity. I had to present in front of people and I felt completely unqualified. Everyone around me suddenly seemed infinitely smarter than I was. And all these thoughts started bubbling up…I can’t do this. I don’t even know what I’m talking about. They are going to think I’m dumb. What if they ask something I don’t know? What if I say something wrong? What if I make a complete fool of myself? What if.… and the list went on and on.
Prayer for Feeling Incapable
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your confidence in me. Thank you for loving me just as I am.
There are times in my life when I feel like I am not enough or that I cannot accomplish something. I get this paralyzing feeling that there’s no way I can do it and then my mind starts repeating thoughts and repeating scenarios, making everything worse. When I feel like this, I will remember that I can take every thought captive and force it to obey you (2 Cor 10:5). I will remember that Your word says I can do ALL things through You who gives me strength (Phil 4:13). You did NOT give me a spirit of fear or timidity, but of power, love and self discipline (2 Tim 1:7). You have told me to be strong and courageous because You are with me (Josh 1:9).
I will not worry about how this will turn out because I know that I am not in control, You are. I will not worry because I know you have great plans for my future (Jerm 29:11) and that you will work everything (good and bad) for my good (Rom 8:28). I know that you are able to bless me abundantly so that I have all I need (2 Cor 9:8).
Flood me with your peace that surpasses understanding (Phil 4:7) and remind me that You are with me so, I am never alone.
