Prayer for Sadness
Dear Lord,
It is so hard to praise when I’m hurting. Its so hard to remember You are in control even if things don’t look like it. Its hard when I feel attacked from so many directions and even harder when I can see the enemy attacking me through people I love. Words can hurt so much.
But, I will remember Your sovereignty. I will put on my garment of praise when the spirit of heaviness hits (Isa 61:3). I will remember that you inhabit the praises of your people (Psa 22:3) and so I will praise you — no matter what.
I will let You fight my battles (Exo 14:14). I will bring You my problems and lay them at Your feet. I will fight with prayer and praise, remembering that Your word says that the fervent prayers of the righteous are effective (Jam 5:16).
Please flood my thoughts. Surround me with peace. Send angels to protect me. Let me feel you close.
