Prayer for Temptation
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being my counselor. Thank you for letting me come to You when I’m in need. Thank you for promising to listen to my prayers (1 John 5:14).
Lord help me when I find myself in situations that are tempting. Your word promises that I will not endure any temptation that is too much for me. Your word promises to provide a way for me to escape temptation (1 Cor 10:13). Open my eyes when I’m in those situations so that I am aware of the escape route.
When I am tempted to act in a way that I will later regret, remind me that You are my strength. I know I can’t do it on my own, but I don’t have to, because You are with me. Let me stay alert so that the enemy can not deceive me with one of his schemes (Eph 6:11). I know that he is devious and often hides as an angel of light (2 Cor 11:14). Lord give me wisdom and strength so I can persevere.
Thank you Lord, for helping me. Help me be strong. Surround me with Your presence and show me the escape route.
